Premature gather at East

Premature gather at East

Next year collecting Sahlgrenska University Hospital, all care of premature infants to a place that they will not have to be transported unnecessarily.

Today conducted neonatal care at Ostra Hospital in Gothenburg and Mölndal Hospital, approximately one mil farther. For next summer, all the care of premature shift to Eastern Hospital.

This is done primarily to reduce the risk involved in transporting the neonates between hospitals, says Henrik Almgren, operations manager for women's health and neonatology at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital, in a news release from the hospital.

By collecting neonatal care in one place will be a clearer division between normal and critical care of premature babies. It provides a better working environment and better patient safety, according to Henrik Almgren.

Department moving from Molndal Hospital to Eastern Hospital, will have 24 beds for normal care of preterm; department that already exist on the East becomes a dedicated intensive care unit with 14 seats.

With larger premises and more single rooms also reduces the spread of infection.
